Endodontic treatment (aka root canal therapy) is a procedure to remove inflamed or infected tissue from the tooth. During treatment, the internal surface of the tooth is cleaned, disinfected, and filled. Your dentist will later place a final filling or crown to protect it from reinfection and help return the tooth to full function.

Root canal therapy is a way to save your natural tooth in place if it has become irreversibly inflamed, infected, or the tissue has died – often subsequent to decay or trauma. A root canal may heal swelling and aid in alleviating many types of dental pain, such as thermal sensitivity (cold or hot), spontaneous pain, or chewing pain.

An endodontist is a dentist who has 2 or more years of extra specialty training in diagnosis and treatment of root canal related infections. Less than 3% of dentists are endodontists and only 23% of endodontists board certified!
Meet the Doc!
Dr. Kelly Kimiko Leong is a Board-Certified Endodontist.
She strives to treat her patients with compassion and knowledge, helping them gain an understanding about their dental pathologies to alleviate anxiety during procedures.
Dr. Leong was born and raised in San Francisco. She is a graduate of UC Berkeley and Tufts University where she earned both her DMD degree Endodontic Certification. Dr. Leong is also a Clinical Assistant Professor in Tufts Postgraduate Endodontics Department.

We accepts all major PPO dental insurance plans.
Dr. Leong is an in-network provider for Delta Dental PPO and Aetna/Guardian PPO.
Most PPO plans will cover endodontic treatment at around 80%.
